The ionic liquid of 1butyl3methylimidazolium chloride (BmimCl) was used as a good solvent to dissolve cellulose. The rheological properties of the cellulose ionic liquid (MCC/BmimCl) solutions were investigated by steady shear and oscillatory shear measurements. The results indicated that all the MCC/BmimCl solutions showed a shear thinning behavior at both high shear rates and low shear rates. The concentration of MCC/BmimCl solution and temperature had an important influence on the viscoelastic properties of MCC/BmimCl solution. Cross viscosity model was used to fit experimental data of complex viscosity
and the activation energies for shear flow were determined using Arrhenius formula.
