The fatty acids were extracted from a new kelp using alcohol
which were esterified in KOH-CH
3
OH solution and then analyzed by GC-MS method. The results showed that there were ten polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) with their contents of 37.98%
including linoleic acid (LA
9.29%)
γLinolenic acid (GLA
3.74%)
eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA
1.12%)
docosahexenoic acid (DHA
0.63%)
Arachidonic acid (AA
4.9%). Besides
there were four saturated fatty acids (SFAs) with their contents of 5622%
including palmitic acid 36.23%. This work provided scientific evidence for the deeper exploitation of the new kelp in the biological pharmacy and nourishment fields.
