      Column of history of science and technology journals at Sun Yat-sen University

      摘要:This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the over-century-long publishing history of scientific and technological journal at Sun Yat-sen University. Based on an examination of the historical lineage of Sun Yat-sen University, the publishing activities of scientific and technological journals at its predecessor institutions are also included in the review. According to the data, the publishing history of Sun Yat-sen University and its predecessor institute can be summarized into three stages: Published 25 scientific and technological journals before the university's official establishment (1866-1923), 87 during the Republican era (1924-1948), and 60 during the People's Republic era (1949-2024), with a total of 172 journals published. Among the journals, Sun Yat-sen University's scientific and technological journal publishing has been the most notable in the field of medical journals, with its influence continuing up to now. These scientific and technological journals not only document the history of disciplinary development at Sun Yat-sen University from an academic research perspective, but also make significant contributions to the development and dissemination of modern science and technology in China.

      摘要:This article introduces the founding and origin of the Acta Scientiarum Naturalium Universitatis Sunyatseni, and reviews the 70-year history of the journal's development, dividing into four periods: 1955-1966, 1973-1978, 1979-2012 and 2013-2023. We specifically focused on the scholars of Sun Yat-sen University who have made important contributions to the development of the journal in various periods and discussed their published papers, in an effort to show the contribution of Sun Yat-sen University and this journal to promot the development and progress of science and technology in the country. Since the new era, the journal has made significant progresses in its commitment to high quality development. This journal aims to establish itself as a world-class scientific and technological journal, and several important measures have been implemented, such as organizing large-scale special issues, changing the journal's language to both Chinese and English, implementing a manuscript quality improvement plan, and continuously enhancing digital publishing. These ways together actively promot the development of a high-level international scientific and technological journal.

      Column of intelligent communication

      摘要:With the increase of carrier frequencies and the widespread deployment of large-scale antenna arrays, the analog phase shifter based beamforming has become one of the key technologies for the next-generation wireless communications. To ensure reliable wireless services, beam management is usually adopted to acquire and maintain the optimal beam pair with the maximum received power between the base station and the user equipment. However, traditional beam management methods generally rely on large-scale searching, which could bring huge overhead. Additionally, traditional mathematical models cannot comprehensively and accurately model the nonlinear intrinsic characteristics in the received signals from the beam and the high-dimensional features of wireless environments,making it difficult to achieve satisfactory beamforming gain performance. Thanks to its strong adaptive fitting capabilities, deep learning empowered beam management has drawn much attention recently. To this end, this paper reviews the state-of-the-art literatures of deep learning empowered beam management and discusses future research directions. Firstly, the typical scenarios and advantages of applying deep learning to beam management are elucidated. Subsequently, the main techniques and representative works in current deep learning empowered beam management are summarized from space/time/frequency domains. Finally, this paper addresses future research challenges and opportunities from the perspective of larger-scale wireless networks, more diverse beam management functions, and more robust deep learning models.

    • Semantic coding transmission method and application for industrial internet

      摘要:The integration of semantic communication technology into industrial networks is proposed and a semantic coding transmission system for the industrial internet is established. Within this system,a semantic codec is developed to extract semantic information from the source. Compared with traditional communication systems, semantic-based communication offers higher information compression efficiency and greater symbol error tolerance. Furthermore, a co-codec for joint source-channel coding have been introduced, which enhances the utilization efficiency of industrial network communication resources through co-coding techniques. All codecs are built upon leading deep neural network architecture “Transformer”, ensuring their ability to comprehend semantic information and maintain network universality. The system has been tested in real-world scenarios within industrial drug production facilities, demonstrating significant improvements in image reconstruction quality and transmission processing speed compared to traditional communication schemes. Additionally, minimal impact on downstream task performance ensures accuracy in critical tasks such as defect detection in industrial production processes.

      摘要:This study investigates overlay symbol decision algorithms via the computation over multi-access channels(CoMAC) architecture for different scenarios. Firstly, the probability density distributions of overlay symbols under additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) multi-access channels in three scenarios, namely XOR, ADD, and MOD, are theoretically analyzed. A threshold decision strategy based on prior probabilities is proposed. Secondly, the theoretical expressions for the optimal threshold and corresponding error rate are derived. Finally, simulations are conducted to verify the robustness and reliability of the threshold decision scheme under different signal-to-noise ratios, numbers of sensor nodes, and prior probabilities. Compared to traditional approaches that separate communication and computation, the CoMAC decision scheme exhibits superior detection performance and provides a new reference for signal identification in multi-access channels.

      摘要:A directed acyclic graph(DAG) was developed for task offloading and resource optimization, aiming to minimize system energy consumption under constraints such as maximum tolerable delay. Considering that computing requests are highly dynamic in the network and it is difficult to obtain complete system state information, the multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient(MADDPG) algorithm is used to explore the optimal strategy. Compared to existing task offloading algorithms, the MADDPG algorithm can reduce the average system power consumption by 14.2% to 40.8%, and improve the local cache hit rate by 3.7% to 4.1%.

    • Reconfigurable intelligent surface-aided ISAC performance optimization

      摘要:In order to solve the problem of coverage hole and low detection accuracy caused by obstacles, a gridding based reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS) assisted ISAC(integrated sensing and communication) optimization approach is proposed. Firstly, a minimizing square position error bound (SPEB) problem is modeled. The weak sensing & communication area and the potential RIS deployment area is divided into several grids to reduce the computational complexity, and particle swarm optimization algorithm and alternating optimization algorithm is used to jointly optimizing the desired angle of reflection and deployment location of RIS. In addition, a detection demand factor is introduced to model the problem of jointly maximizing sensing and communication performance, and analyze the effect of the factor on performance. The simulation results show that:(1) The joint optimization of the desired angle of reflection and the deployment location of the RIS significantly reduces the average SPEB with only a small decrease in the average SNR,the joint optimization scheme can reduce the average SPEB by about 10 times compared to that only optimizing the desired angle of reflection;(2) It can be seen that different sizes of RIS have an influence on its optimal deployment locations. (3)The joint optimization of the desired angle of reflection and the deployment location of the RIS further improves the detection accuracy, and maximizes the ISAC overall performance.

      摘要:Sturgeon collectively refers to the species within the order Acipenseriformes. These fish are not only pivotal in evolutionary terms but also carry a considerable economic value. In recent decades,significant advances have been made in the research and development of new sturgeon varieties. In this review,a comprehensive review of the primary methods employed in sturgeon breeding,including hybrid breeding,gynogenesis,sex reversal induction,gene editing,family selection,and genomic selection was provided. The current application of these techniques,highlighting the key research breakthroughs achieved in breeding,and the future advancements in sturgeon breeding and the seed industry are also discussed. Finally,together with our accumulated experiences from practical breeding efforts,a perspective for future sturgeon breeding research from both a theoretical foundation and practical guidance was provided.

      摘要:Ovoviviparity, as an intermediate state in the evolution from oviparity to viviparity, is characterized by high offspring viability. However, mass culture of this species has brought some practical problems in the reproduction process. For example, in cage aquaculture, parent fish often experience significant mating failures, resulting in extremely low birth rates of their offspring. During pregnancy, the development of maternal-fetal organs of parent fish is impaired, resulting in the fetal death of larvae. Premature births and dystocia resulted in significant mortality among parent fish and larvae. This review mainly focused on the endocrine regulation mechanisms and discussed the progress related to mating, pregnancy maintenance, and parturition initiation in black rockfish (Sebastes schlegelii), aiming to provide potential ideas for future research and ultimately solve the problems in aquaculture.

      摘要:The mandarin fish is a freshwater fish distributed in East Asian countries, and is one of the important economic fish in China. In recent years, with the completion of genome sequencing, the genetic basis of reproductive growth of mandarin fish has been gradually revealed. The researchers developed a molecular marker of sex chromosome in mandarin fish to realize sex-controlled breeding. Polyploid fish was obtained by cell engineering breeding in mandarin fish. Several excellent new varieties have been cultivated by growth selection and feed domestication in mandarin fish. Combined with the studies in our research team, this paper summarizes the reproductive and growth regulation mechanism of mandarin fish and improved seed cultivation technology, and discusses the application status of breeding methods, in an effort to provide a direction and thinking for the development of mandarin fish and other economic fish industry.

      摘要:In order to rapidly select and breed all-male Channa maculata, this study developed a breeding method for all-male Channa maculata by combining sex-specific molecular markers and the three-lines breeding technology. Healthy seven-day-old Channa maculata juveniles were selected for feminization, and the juveniles were randomly divided into three groups, and 100, 300 and 600 mg/kg of estradiol hormone was added to the feed for 60 d. The sex-specific molecular markers M12 and P2 were used to identify and screen out Channa maculata with the determinant of XY type. Next, the offspring obtained by mating XY-type normal males with XY-type pseudo-females were divided into two groups, one was fed with normal feed, and the other was subjected to estradiol hormone treatment. YY super males were screened using MX1 and MX3 primers, and finally, YY super males and normal females were mated as parents to produce all-male Channa maculata offspring. The results showed that the 600 mg/kg hormone concentration group had the highest sex reversal rate of 75%, and 235 Channa maculata with the XY genotype were screened from 508 lines fed with estrogen E2. 22 YY hypermales were detected at 2 months of age in the offspring obtained by mating XY pseudo-females with normal males and 14 YY hypermales were detected at 7 months of age. All the screened Channa maculata individuals were used to produce all-male offspring. The present method significantly improved the breeding efficiency and shortened the breeding cycle of Channa maculata, and showed a great economic potential and application value, which can be used as a reference for gender-specific molecular marker-assisted breeding in other fish species.

    • Research progress on molecular mechanisms of sex plasticity in fish

      摘要:Fish have a high plasticity in sex due to existing germline stem cells, which are manifested as natural sex reversal, primary sex reversal and secondary sex reversal. In recent years, a series of studies have shown that the sex plasticity in fish is closely related to estrogen. Once the synthesis of gonadal estrogen is blocked, both undifferentiated and differentiated ovaries will reverse to the testes. Mutation of the male sex determining genes induced sex reversal in fish species, which can be rescued by disruption of estrogen synthesis. Importantly, sex plasticity of germ cells depends on the coexistence of foxl3 and dmrt1, and the absence of either cannot be rescued by altering estrogen levels. Therefore, foxl3 and dmrt1 are key genes in response to estrogen induction in germ cells. On the other hand, there has been great progress in the mechanism of fish sex plasticity regulated by epigenetics. For example, kdm6bb mediates temperature induced sex reversal through alternative splicing. These studies have promoted our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying sex plasticity in fish.

      摘要:The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different dietary phosphorus levels on growth, bone mineralization, relatively physiological and biochemical indices in blood and liver of hybrid grouper juveniles. Seven feeding diets with isoenergetic, isoproteic and isolipidic (1 421.2 kJ/100 g, 47% and 8%, dry matter) were designed. The analyzed dietary phosphorus (P) levels were 1.05%, 1.10%, 1.20%, 1.37%, 1.52%, 1.59%, and 1.70%, and experimental treatments were abbreviated as P1.05, P1.10, P1.20, P1.37, P1.52, P1.59, and P1.70. The average initial fish weight was (12.14 ± 0.05) g, and experimental fish was hand-fed (8:00 and 16:30) to apparent satiation for 6 weeks. The results showed that the weight gain percentage (WG), specific growth rate (SGR) and condition factor (CF) in P1.05 group were significantly higher than those in other experimental groups (P<0.01), and protein increase value (PPV) was slightly higher in both P1.05 and P1.10 groups than that in the other experimental groups, but there was no significant difference between the groups (P>0.05). With increasing feed phosphorus levels, plasma and liver alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and triglyceride (TG) concentrations were higher in the P1.05 group than those in the other experimental groups, whereas whole fish ash as well as plasma and liver total cholesterol (TC) content showed the opposite trend. Plasma calcium (Ca) content was the highest and P content was the lowest among the experimental groups in the P1.05 group, and vertebral Ca and P contents were lower in the P1.05 group than in the other experimental groups. The expression of liver insulin-like growth factor-1(igf-1) of P1.05 group was also significantly higher than that of other experimental groups (P<0.05). In summary, the 1.05% of dietary phosphorus level can meet the P demand for the growth of hybrid grouper juveniles, and excessive phosphorus supplementations will lead to the decline of fish growth performance.

      摘要:Mainly synthesized in the pineal gland of various vertebrates including fishes, melatonin as a small-molecule neurotransmitter plays important roles in biological rhythms, reproduction, growth and development. In diverse fish species, pineal is a complex with photoreceptor-like cells as the major pinealocytes, displaying both photoreceptive and endocrine functions. Beginning with the initial precursor tryptophan, melatonin biosynthesis is catalyzed by four enzymes, including tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH), L-aromatic amino acid decarboxylase (AAAD), aralkylamine N-acetyltransferase (AANAT), and acetylserotonin-O-methyltransferase (ASMT,previously known as HIOMT). In the past few years, we performed a series of comparative genomics studies on many representative vertebrates, and obtained a consensus of phylogenetic evolution between these genes and those examined species, suggesting the high conservation of these melatonin-synthesizing genes (MSGs). Interestingly, copy numbers of these genes have been expanded in most fish species, although the ratio of each gene between tetraploidy and diploidy fishes is not always 2:1, possibly due to gene loss after the putative teleost genome duplication(s). Meanwhile, we identified several new genes, such as aaad-like and asmt-like, which may play novel function(s). In some cave-restricted or deep-sea fishes, gene loss, frameshift mutation, and/or pseudogenization of certain MSGs occurs for potential adaptation for the special environment. Focusing on our related findings in the past decade, this review mainly summarizes phylogenetic evolution and physiological roles of the four MSGs, with an aim for better understanding of melatonin and its impacts on fish reproductive endocrine activities. This brief overview will also provide a guidance and the support for practical applications of melatonin and MSGs for regulation of fish gonadal development, artificial breeding, and new variety development in various fishes.

      摘要:Gonadotropin hormones (GtH) are a crucial class of glycoprotein hormones synthesized and secreted by the pituitary, playing a pivotal role in promoting gonadal development and maturation. In this study, we successfully cloned the open reading frame(ORF) sequences of fshβ and lhβ from pompano (Trachinotus ovatus), with fshβ ORF length of 363 bp and lhβ ORF length of 447 bp. Using quantitative real-time PCR(qPCR), we observed expression of fshβ and lhβ in various tissues of pompano, with the highest levels detected in the pituitary followed by the hypothalamus. Furthermore, in vitro experiments were conducted to assess the effect of 17β-estradiol(E2) on fshβ and lhβ expression in pompano pituitary. Results showed a significant inhibition of fshβ and lhβ expression after 6 h of treatment with 10 μmol/L E2. Lastly, using estrogen receptor(ER) antagonists for in vitro incubation of pompano pituitary tissue, we demonstrated that broad-spectrum antagonist Fulvestrant, ERβ antagonist Cyclofenil, and ERα antagonist MPP dihydrochloride could alleviate the inhibitory effect of E2 on fshβ and lhβ expression. Overall, our findings suggest a negative feedback regulation of E2 on GtH secretion in pompano, providing valuable insights into the reproductive regulation mechanism of pompano.

      Urban green spaces and human well being

      摘要:China has entered the "second half" of population urbanization. In recent years, multi-sensory landscape perception and planning design of residents have become a hot spot in spatial perception analysis and planning design. However, most existing studies focus on the single or double-sense analysis of vision and hearing, there is not only a lack of attention to the sense of smell, touch, and other senses, but also a deficiency of attention to the combined multi-sense analysis. From the perspective of multi-sensory perception, this paper takes the landscape of Guangzhou waterfront public space as a case and divides it into three landscape elements "nature, human/human activities, man-made/mechanical" and 33 landscape factors. By constructing a perceptual growth rate index, the residents' landscape perception characteristics of different types of waterfront space under the four senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch were evaluated. The results show that among the four senses, residents tend to be more sensitive to smell in the natural landscape, more sensitive to hearing in the human landscape, and more sensitive to touch in the artificial landscape. Compared with vision and touch, landscape perception needs of hearing and smell of residents are mostly overlooked. Residents expect to perceive more natural sounds and natural smells of landscape elements, while human activity sounds and mechanical smells are not welcome. The perception characteristics of landscape elements under multi-sensory conditions vary in different types of public Spaces. Plazas and piers are key areas that need to be reconditioned, and special attention should be paid to avoiding the interference of electronic equipment and traffic noise. Finally, the corresponding perceptual design guidelines for each waterfront space are formed. This paper proposes that the integrated multi-sensory landscape perception analysis can provide substantial reference for urban waterfront space planning and design.

      摘要:Constructing more urban parks facilitates the achievement of harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature. Most existing studies about residents' park-visiting behavior are based on questionnaire survey data and interview data to analyse the characteristics of spatial differentiation, limiting the universality and scientificity of the conclusions. Mobile phone signaling data offers advantages such as large samples, wide-coverage, passive information provision, and strong real-time dynamics. Utilizing mobile phone signaling data to identify urban residents' park visits accurately can assist in the optimization of urban park layout and quality improvement. Based on individual-scale mobile phone signaling data, this study aims to reveal the spatial differentiation of park visits of Guangzhou residents and identify influencing factors, particularly focusing on the differences between urban and suburban residents. The results show that: 1) the frequency, duration, and intensity of park-visiting of urban residents are higher than those of suburban residents, and the average park-visiting distance of the former is shorter than that of the latter; 2) the frequency, intensity, and duration of park-visiting and average park-visiting distance show the spatial characteristics of high- / low-value accumulation of an extensive distribution in urban areas and sporadic distribution in the suburbs; 3) park-visiting behaviour is jointly influenced by gender, age, temporal and spatial constraints, socio-economic status, park accessibility, community travel convenience, and travel appropriateness. This study provides decision-making reference for relevant government departments to effectively carry out the planning, construction, and management of urban parks.

      摘要:The intense pressure of social competition and the fast-paced urban living have been increasingly exacerbating mental health issues among college students. As one of the everyday therapeutic landscapes, green-blue spaces are crucial nature prescriptions and environmental assets that could improve mental health. Drawing upon visual landscape perception theory, this study conducted a virtual reality eye-tracking experiment and collected eye movement and emotional data of 51 college students to explore the effect of visual characteristics of waterfront spaces on college students’ attention and emotions. The results indicated that waterfront spaces within public open spaces triggered longer fixation duration and greater pleasure. The participants’ mean pupil diameters and pleasure levels varied across different behavior perspectives while perceiving these spaces. Various levels of green density, plant structure, and water visibility had different effects on attention and emotion. Notably, significant interaction effects were observed between visual characteristics and environmental type (or behavior perspective). The study extends the human-place perception theory regarding green-blue space through experimental exploration and nuanced analyses. Its results provide valuable insights and empirical evidence for the design of meticulously crafted waterfront spaces and the construction of youth-friendly waterfront spaces at a humanistic scale.

      摘要:The bird is an important biodiversity indicator of urban habitat change. The spatial pattern of bird biodiversity is a hot issue in urban biodiversity conservation. The Pearl River Delta has experienced rapid urbanization,and its landscape has undergone tremendous changes,which has brought great challenges for preserving habitat and biodiversity. To understand the interaction between bird biodiversity and habitat in urban areas,a framework was established to study the spatial pattern and mechanism of resident birds in the urban agglomeration of the Pearl River Delta,including three steps,namely,single species distribution simulation,resident bird diversity distribution classification,and attribution factor analysis. The results show that:1) The diversity and suitability of 87 resident birds in the urban agglomeration area has a typical distribution along the urban-rural gradient,where the core area of the urban center has a high potential diversity of resident birds. Through cluster analysis,resident birds can be divided into 8 categories. Generally,the proportion of medium and high suitable areas for resident birds is under 30%. 2) Using a structural equation model to quantify the environmental factors that contribute to the categories of bird diversity,it can be found that human activities mostly exhibit positive effects,with influence coefficients ranging from 0.28 to 1.94;the positive or negative effects of vegetation,climate,and terrain differ significantly. This study can provide a scientific foundation for protecting urban biodiversity,regulating-habitat influencing factors of bird diversity,and policy-making in urban ecological management.

      摘要:This study examines the impact of urban green public spaces, particularly park squares, on adolescents' mental health, with a focus on gender differences and the moderating role of cell phone recreation time. The study builds regression models based on data collected from a questionnaire for 472 middle school students in Guangzhou, and four different geographic contexts were included: residence neighborhood, school neighborhood, and activity path space on weekdays and weekends. The results show that green space has a significant positive effect on adolescents' mental health, with the greatest effect around the place of residence, followed by weekday activity paths, then weekend activity paths, and the least effect around the school neighborhood. Mental health effects of green space on boys and girls showed significant differences across geographic contexts, with higher mental health effects on boys than on girls around their place of residence and on weekday activity paths, and higher effects on girls than on boys on weekend activity space paths. Increased cell phone recreation time inhibited the mental health effects of green space, with higher inhibitory effects on girls than boys around their place of residence and on boys than girls in weekend activity path. It is suggested that adolescents’ mental health can be promoted along three dimensions: increasing green space, limiting cell phone recreation time, and considering gender-sensitive interventions.

    • Advances in focusing schlieren technology for high-speed flow field imaging

      摘要:Compared to traditional optical flow visualization technology, focusing schlieren technology can blur the flow field information in the non-focused region to reflect the flow field information in a narrow depth of field. It possesses high spatial resolution, strong anti-interference ability, does not require tracer particles for broadcasting,and is cost-effective. These characteristics enable focusing schlieren highly suitable for high-speed flow display and flow field measurement. Based on the introduction of the basic principle of focusing schlieren imaging system, this paper summarizes the research progress of focusing schlieren at home and abroad based on the challenges faced by traditional focusing schlieren in grid alignment and unsteady flow multi-plane measurement, and further looks forward to the future development of focusing schlieren.

      摘要:Utilizing a thermochemical non-equilibrium computational approach and employing compressible N-S equations along with the SST k-ω turbulence model, numerical simulations were conducted for the flow fields of the shoulder step jet and the head reverse jet of the blunt cone model. Under different conditions of jet pressure, nozzle positions, and quantities, the effects of active gas film cooling on the sheath surrounding the hypersonic vehicle were meticulously analyzed. The results indicate that the number and position of the nozzles as well as the pressure of the jets in active gas film cooling for hypersonic vehicles significantly influence plasma density. Tangential jets at the shoulder effectively reduce plasma density near the model wall, potentially affecting the transmission of high-frequency electronic waves and target RCS(radar cross section). Meanwhile, reverse jets at the head can notably alter the distribution of head plasma. Different arrangements of reverse jets will lead to obvious differences in their effects.

    • Aero-optical effects of supersonic vehicles

      摘要:In this paper, numerical simulation methods, computational optical methods and theories are used to study the flow field of supersonic aircraft. The density distribution of the flow field above the optical window at different flight heights and angles of attack is obtained. And the refractive index field above the optical window according to the Gladstone-Dale relationship is obtained, the optical path difference distribution of the flow field is calculated by using the ray tracing method. Through the analysis on the distribution of the optical path difference of the parallel beam through the flow field, it can be concluded that the aerodynamic optical effect gradually weakens with the increase of the flight altitude. With the increase of the angle of attack, the aerodynamic optical effect is gradually enhanced.

    • High-speed thrust vector nozzle based on Coandă effect

      摘要:In this paper, a high-speed thrust vector nozzle is designed based on the Conda effect to realize the mainstream direction control by its deflecting effect on the fluid. The nozzle design is composed of the main passage, eight independent gas chambers on the outside and a Coandă wall at the exit. Eight deflection directions can be controlled through the switching condition of the outdoor part of the gas. In this paper, the numerical simulation method is used to simulate the designed high-speed thrust vector nozzle. The influence of the three parameters of the mainstream velocity, the opening and closing of the gas chamber, the change of the curvature of the Coandă wall on the mainstream deflection effect is explored. Numerical simulation results show that: (1)When the mainstream speed is between 50~160 m/s, the deflection effect of different switch combinations is significantly different. (2)When the number of air chamber openings is odd, the deflection effect is better than even. When there is only one air chamber opening, the deflection effect is optimal. (3)The curvature of the optimal Coandă wall of the three-dimensional nozzle is 55.26. The high-speed thrust vector nozzle designed in this paper can achieve better deflection control effect, and the maximum deflection angle can reach 85.91°.
