Abstract

A new electrochemical composite is reported

which is based on redox mediator toluidine blue O (TBO) self-assembled onto the surface of nitrogen

phosphorus and sulfur codoped porous carbons (N

S@PC). The N

S@PC and N

S@PC-TBO composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and the results showed surface morphology of the two composites was distinctly different. The N

S@PC-TBO composite was used to modify glass carbon (GC) electrode which displayed high conductivity. The electrocatalytic behaviour of N

S@PC-TBO/GC electrode was studied by voltammetry and amperometry. The results demonstrated that the N

S@PC-TBO/GC electrode provided a positively synergistic effect between N

S@PC and TBO on the electrocatalytic oxidation of NADH. This modified electrode exhibited a wide linear range from 1×10

－6

- 2×10

－3

mol/L and a detection limit of 3×10

－7

mol/L (

S/N

= 3) with a fast response time of 2 s

at a low applied potential of－0203 V. Therefore

the N

S@PC-TBO/GC electrode provides a new platform for the detection of NADH.
