Determination on the Contents of Condensed Tannins in Spatholobus suberectus Dunn.Extracts and Primary Study on their Anti-tumor Activities
The contents of total flavonoids and condensed tannins in the ethanol extract of
Spatholobus suberectus
Dunn and its different solvents partitioned extracts were determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometry and VanillinH
2
SO
4
method
respectively. The contents of total flavonoids in the φ=60% ethanol extract
ethyl acetate insoluble extract
ethyl acetate partitioned extract
n-butanol partitioned extract
water residue were (6.49±1.99)%,(7.36±0.13)%,(9.35±0.22)%,(8.41±0.27)%,(4.48±1.53)%, respectively
while their contents of condensed tannins were (51.09±0.37)%,(52.34±4.73)%,(73.22±2.72)%,(83.11±5.87)%,(29.74±2.12)%
respectively. The inhibitory activities on the proliferation of HT-29 and MCF-7 tumor cells were determined by MTT. The extract samples all showed inhibitory activities in different extent on the proliferation of HT-29 and MCF-7 tumor cells. The nbutanol partitioned extract had the strongest inhibitory activities on the proliferation of both tumor cells.
